Job Summary
Responsible for driving the development of corporate and unit-level strategy in conjunction with the leadership team, evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of strategic plans, monitoring strategy implementation, incubating Group-level strategic initiatives and providing support for execution of strategic initiatives to ensure the Group and subsidiary business meet their goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of the financial services industry.
Job Details
Strategy Development: Help senior leaders develop and refine strategies in alignment with organizational goals and markets trends, based on in-depth understanding of the business. Oversee the planning of corporate strategy sessions and subsequent development of business and unit strategic plans.
Market and Competitive Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market analysis, competitive research and analysis, and benchmark ARM and subsidiary companies against competitors to determine market positioning, identify opportunities for growth and differentiation and define appropriate business responses to changes in the market and competitive factors. Stay up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends that could impact the businesses.
Research: Undertake research and data collection, analyze qualitative and/or quantitative data and distill insights, and develop industry reports that will drive the execution of critical business initiatives and development of new strategies and business opportunities.
Business Advisory: Provide strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor and serve as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders. Provide guidance, research support and competitive intelligence to business to aid in the development and execution of progressive strategies. Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues. Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that are complex and non-routine.
Strategy Communication: Assist in the development of strategic communications to staff and other stakeholders.
Strategy Execution: Lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives and projects to deliver specific outcomes in line with the organization’s strategic objectives. Provide project management support for key strategic projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Assist in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate development activities as needed.
Strategy Monitoring: Establish, track and report on key performance indicators to track the execution and effectiveness of strategic initiatives. Monitor and analyze the performance of subsidiary businesses and the overall group against strategic objectives. Conduct variance analysis to identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Business Development: Assist in business development efforts of the Group and subsidiary businesses, including the creation of concept papers, business cases, feasibility studies, business proposals and reports for new business opportunities and initiatives. This involves researching new opportunities, identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.
Business Support: Support business units, functional units and shared services in the implementation of new and critical initiatives where required.
Board and Management Reporting: Develop report to board of directors and senior management on the strategic plan and performance of the group, subsidiary businesses and functional areas, including critical key performance indicators, core performance drivers and bottlenecks to optimal performance, changes in market and competitive environment and implications for the Group, amongst other factors.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate the collation of information from multiple business areas and develop corporate presentations to key external parties.
Supports Team’s Development: Provide advice, guidance, assistance and oversight to less experienced colleagues as required
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics or a related field from an accredited university.
A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5-8 years of work experience in Corporate Strategy, Strategic Planning, Finance, Management Consulting or a related role within the financial services industry.
